Begin With Your End In Mind
Welcome to We Win. Things Change.
Setting out on a journey without knowing where you’re going creates fear, uncertainty, and increased risk. As a trial lawyer when you take a case, you must begin with your end in mind. You must decide at the outset what you want to see happen - how you want your case to end. To begin with your end in mind. Once you do that, the path you’ll take to get there will come into focus. Your steps along that path will be well defined. You’ll be calm, relaxed and in complete control of yourself and your case.
When you begin with your end in mind, creating your path to get there is fun and easy. Once chosen, you will naturally move down your chosen path in the direction of your end in mind. When an action you’ve chosen gets you closer, do that. When it doesn’t, don’t. You’ll eventually do things subconsciously, unconsciously even that get you ever closer to your end in mind.
As you develop your case, your story may change. As a result, your desired end may change too. That’s all right. If your desired end changes, you simply adjust your path to get to your new end in mind. What’s critical is that at any time along the way, you know exactly where you’re going. You always have your end in mind.
Like adding definition to everything you do, this will free your mind and focus you on where you’re going. Do this and you’ll stay calm, relaxed and in complete control of yourself and your case. You’ll win your case. You’ll change things too.
Until next time,
